  1. Welcoming a new pet is a fun and exciting time but there are some things you should know to help your Kitten settle into its new home!

make sure you have everything set up for when your new baby arrives we have a supply list on another page for additional information.

if you have other pets in the home please introduce them slowly because kittens are very fragile and even a tiny dog can cause a lot of damage or kill a kitten so please make sure they are supervised and leashed or crated if you have dogs that are not used to being around cats.

make sure you have a nice cozy area set up for them them they will not be able to find everything right away it will take them a little bit to learn where everything is so starting them in a smaller room is best so they can find their litter box and food and it helps with adjustment.

our kittens are fed royal canin dry food and fancy feast wet food some kittens have a preference and will favor one food over the other and that’s ok just make sure your kitten is getting enough to eat or they can get low blood sugar. We feed Canned food 2-3 times a day and leave out dry for snacking along with fresh water changed out daily.

Be sure and have a veterinarian picked out we use Campeche cove animal hospital, we recommend the FVRCP vaccine and your kitten will come already vaccinated with one dose and dewormed multiple times. Shot records will be sent home with all adopters.

Safety first!  Kittens are playful and can easily get in the worst places imaginable please keep your kitten indoors Persians are not fit for the outdoors they can also get in dangerous situations like in recliners or even dishwashers or bathtubs and toilets these are all deadly and dangerous for a kitten or a cat so please make sure you know where your kitten is before opening or closing a recliner.

certain chemicals and cleaners are also highly toxic to cats please make sure if you are mopping or using anything harsh that it’s well ventilated and your kitten or cat doesn’t have access to cleaners prior to drying there is also a lot of house plants that can be toxic and cats.

handle with care! Kittens are not glass but they are fragile mainly when they are tiny it’s ok to snuggle your kitten and hold it firmly so it doesn’t jump out of your arms and injure itself but also if you have children always supervise them while playing with the kitten to prevent injury to the kitten.

Persians are high maintenance they require daily brushing and a occasional bath or spot cleaning it’s important they get used to grooming so we start grooming our kittens at a early age. your kitten has been bathed and frequently brushed it’s important to continue this to keep them in good condition they also need their faces and eye creases wiped daily you can use a warm wash cloth or sensitive scent free baby wipes. please make sure any shampoo you use is formulated for cats.

litter box cleaning is very important please make sure you clean the litter box daily.

We highly recommend spaying or neutering by 6 months of age to prevent any unwanted behavior and unplanned kittens.

We hope you enjoy your new kitten!
